Watership Down

Watership Down by Richard Adams came to my attention recently. I don’t remember how, but it has been on my mind to write something about it.

It has been a while, but I’ve read it more than once. It came up in my interview with Nancy Pearl on her book The Writer’s Library, a series of interviews with writers on books that were important to them. Nancy and I were both struck by the number of times Watership Down came up. Maybe if you read it you will become a writer.

The book is about a community of rabbits in England, sort of. Well, not really. It is about bigger ideas told through rabbits. It has been a while, but I remember it fondly. Another books by Adams that is worth checking out is The Girl in the Swing.
